setting up a 30 gal tank

Hi,

New to this forum and SW, and have number of questions:

I have a 30Gal(33USgal), FW setup which I would like to convert to SW, Im looking to start with a FOWLR setup, and as time and money allows adding to the setup.

Does the following setup sound ok, before I start spending my Hard earnt Greens

- 15Kilos of LR
- 22 Kilos sand (not LS, as I read somewhere that the LR will seed normal sand overtime)
- Red sea Prizm deluxe Skimmer
- Currently have a Fluval plus4 internal which I would like to use for Water movement
- RO water with 4 Kilos salt
- Standard T8 Lighting (one white, one marine glo).First thing to upgrade when moneys available

The following Fish are on my stock list (working on 1" per 2G)

- Clown Fish
- Yellowtail Damsel
- Firefish
- Yellow watchman Goby
- Spotted Cardinal

Not sure whether to go for 2 clowns and not have the cardinal.

Finally, due to having T8s at start up what type of corals if any will be ok to add.

TIA

Sounds fine to me, If I was you I'd think of installing a sump, Ive also heard that the prizms are not good skimmers

along with michaeldaly do you have test kits, a hydrometer? as for the lights how many watts of t8's are you gonna use that will help determine what corals. nad you may need to add another or 2 powerheads you want to try for 20x turnover

Planned on picking up the testkit and hydrometer when i get the LR

Looking to add a maxijet 1200, so the combinded flow will be 555gph approx, roughly 19x turnover

on the subjet of Flow whats the best way to postition the internal and power head??

With regards to the lighting only lookig at about 50w.

TIA

for the flow i like to place it toward the back of the tank and point it toward the center of the front glass so it bounces off. but what you want to do is try to have no dead spots in the tank. as for the lights i don't think you will be able to keep any corals under that light but i may be wrong.
