Setting up a fish quarantine/treatment tank without lighting...

I want to turn my old 12g tank into a QT tank because my blue hippo in my display tank is starting to have Ich.

However, I don't have a lighting source on the 12g. Is this a problem? The tank does receive indirect natural sun lighting from a nearby window.

the 12g may be a little small for the fish, which may stress it even more..

As for lighting, it may be good to have some sort of somewhat direct light on the tank, even if its just a lamp or something so they are still on the same lighting sched with your display. Not necessary though.

12g is fine for small fish
You don't need lighting. Indirect light is enough to signal day and night cycles.

As mentioned, a qt tank does not need light. However, a 12 gallon is too small for most tangs, unless you have one of those really small 1" tangs.

You can run a quarantine without a light using only ambient room lighting, although it does make it harder to observe the fish.
