Setting up a qt system for shipments.

Hi folks so we started our local aquarium here in the tropics Sri Lanka. And i've introduced a small marine tank setup for selling fish as well. We have run into some problem within our initial periods. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. Our temps run over 30c during day time so we have to keep salinity low around 1.017 in our qt systems. Is there any other thing which I can help to keep fish alive (Chiller, fans will not work due to expenses)

2. We have started bringing in clownfish and damsels from Indonesia but are having heavy losses. Most of them die after heavy breathing.

3. What's the best way to treat the system? I'm confused whether to run live rock or not. As in should I just out some non cycled filter floss only or should I keep some cycled rocks.

4. How should I treat the incoming fish? Should I start treating them from bag-aclimate bucket itself or let them settle in the qt tanks and then treat?

5. We lost many Clowns due to brooknella how can I prevent this? Formaline is themethod I know and few drop into qt the whole system become milky in color.

6. I've read at methods which says prazi 2nd day onwards, then cupramine 7th day onwards. How will the rocks work with the cupramine etc? Will they create milky colors again or is there a way to prevent this?

7. Should I take all the clowns lets say 2nd day and dip them in recommended formaline baths? Will this otveent them from getting Brook?

Thanks in advance

You need to get oxygen into the water system, you can try bubble wands attached to an air pump. Or probably the best way is get an oxygen tank to blow pure oxygen through the air bubble wands. You can get them fairly long to allow more oxygen into the water. Personally I'd go with pure oxygen with temps that high and maybe add frozen water bottles into the water along with air blowing across the top to keep it cool as well. 30c is very hot!

Something like any of these

You can try the air first, but the problem is that there is almost no oxygen in water that hot. Try the air pumps first. I also don't think it will take much oxygen bubbling in the water to give it a high enough saturation to be much more beneficial to the life of the fish. Large oxygen tanks can be rented reasonably from welding supply companies.

I agree 30 C is pretty hot plus add on some temp from the equipment. I will also assume the humidity is elevated as well. I honestly do not think evaporative cooling will help out much. A chiller is the answer. If getting the proper equipment is financially out of the question. Then I would rethink keeping marine fish. Either way your going to be out money buying the equipment or paying for dead fish.

I am guessing your set up as some sort of store. It is hard to get brook out of a system once it has entered when there is high fish turnover in the tank. The system must remain fishless for 6 weeks to get rid of the brook.

The link should help you out with illnesses.

Thanks I think I'll try using air pumps and bubbling in every tank. Think i loaded too much fish into the system. Perhaps cut it down and go slow.
