Setting up first saltwater

Hi all! I've been following the forum for a month or so now while I've been purchasing all my equipment and getting set up. I finally started pluming my tank this week and I've got most of it set up. Filled the tank yesterday and when I started getting everything up and running I ran into a problem with the overflow box. It's an eshopps pf800 overflow box and I have a small drip coming from the bulkhead on the overflow box. I tightened it by hand as the instructions say but there is still a small drip coming out underneath. Wasn't sure if I should tighten it further with a wrench or if that will risk cracking it? Any suggestions?

Make sure nut screws through outside of overflow and gasket is inside the overflow. You should not need to use tools to tighten bulkhead.

I have the gasket on the inside of the overflow and just the but that tightens it on the outside. Could I have gotten a bad gasket?

Maybe. Also, sometimes there's little chips or burrs on the plastic from the factory that you need to smoothe off. And you have the weight of the pipes supported, not just hanging from the box, right?

I don't have them supported just hanging. Never thought about that... Any suggestion or tricks on how too support it?

Make sure the gasket isnt pinched. I find that some of them are thin and flimsy and either by over tightening or as you are tightening the nut it can pinch the gasket and let water in. Undo it and re tighten and make sure it is firm but not so tight that the nut is squeezing the gasket out.

Go to a home improvement store like Home Depot for pipe support. They should have brackets and hangers for support.
