Setting up Frag Tank... Some Questions

no more puppies for me. im thinking about breaking it down and making the fishroom my storage/hatchery room.

yeah its great to have but i dont want to have to worry about do i take care of my child or go do the tank. i want to devote what time i do have to my child and my mini hatchery.

eventually ill be back with a large tank hopefully the 1000g tank i always wanted but money for my kid and what not come first.

plus my electric bill is above 600 a month so i should be able to save quite a bit.

i havent finished my list yet but if anyone knows someone friends get first dibs.

i have a few scratches as its acrylic but once i move all the livestock and sand and im going to keep my sand well the black sand ill get the tank nice and buffed and ill redo my overflow boxes also with blue acrylic this time instead of the black.

or you could just fill it half way and make a 150 out of it.
then each year you could just add a few gals..;)

Lonnie, I'm interested in a blue millie from you....

Curious what lighting is that on your frag tank?
Each bulb is a PC inside the flood. They're extremely energy efficient. Each throws off the equivalent of 65w (but uses only 15w). And because they're Power Compacts, they remain cool to the touch (even the ones that are over the refugium that are on 24 hours a day).

I got the four bulbs at Costco for a total of $16. Each fixture was about $4 at Home Depot.

Ever since I started using these bulbs over the refugium the growth of the macroalgae has been nothing short of spectacular.

I can't believe the SPS corals do well under these? I'm surprised. How is the growth of them under these lights?

That's the lights just in the frag tank. And, the SPS is right at the top just a inch or two below the surface. And, the SPS's polyps are all out and looking good.

In the display tank is a 250MH and 330w of PC's (580w total) over a 92g corner tank.

heh that was at my parents house.

at my house i have about 200w of lighting plus 2 pumps and 2 x 1000w heaters and the heaters are always running in the basement with it insulated i cant keep the tank above 78 and its just starting to get cold and in the winter i had 2 ac's running to keep it below 86

and im not willing to get a chiller or another heater. to add to what im paying ontop of everything else.

so i got the tank up and ill deal with a 30 and a few 10g tanks and a 20 breeder for now. and later down the line im going to upgrade

if anyone knows someone interested in a complete setup let me know or tell them to pm me

Lonnie,
The frags you gave me are doing great. Open and very blue/purple, Orange/pink. Thanks again bud.;)

Ray,
I have a very large 3'x3' frag tray that has lots of openings for the excess corals in Lonnies tank. Plus, I have them under MH and a surge bucket. (Stole that idea from Pierce)

Just say when Lonnie. :D

I'm glad they're doing great :)

I'll get you an update on the ones you gave me when the lights are on today --- as of yesterday they hadn't opened up yet.

Here's what they look like open:

I'll say it again. If you need to make more room in your tank, I have a large amount of space on my frag rack.;)
