setting up my sump

hey everyone i am going to be making my own sump however i have a few quetions. i will be having a 10gal glass tank as a sump. i already know the lay out that i want to do but i dont know how to hook everything up.

I have a aqua c urchin in sump skimmer.....also i want to have some form of filtration such as using a bio sock or bioballs.


any suggestions or pictures out there of sump setups....i have looked at a lot of sites and they all seem different please help.

I've been thinking about one, but I currently have a drawer that I put a filter in. Seems to work well.

10 is small. I'd watch craigslist.org or ebay for a used tank to float by. I bought a 25g & 30g for $30.

Bioballs will convert waste to nitrates too fast. I wouldn't use them and rely on your skimmer instead.

I've heard bad things about Aqua C's although I have a remora myself.

You may also want to consider a prosphate reactor. They do a really good job keeping these under control although I still have hair algae growing. Working on a refugium now.
