any other suggestions plz help me......

will be mixing sps and some fish's...

Where are you going to set up the fuge/sump under the tank? what ever pump you get make sure you calculate the head pressure. (there is a calculator for this on the homepage) BTW your sump is 43.5 gallons (rounding up)

Depending on what animals you keep, you might want to add a extra pump for any dead space. If you like to keep the tank looking spacious, 90 lbs sounds good. If you like it looking a bit more filled up, I suggest another 20-30 lbs. The sand sounds good enough. Are you filling the fuge with any mud or not? Maybe some chaeto?

ref... will be filled with LS and some chaeto.... no mud..

for now i'll get only one mp40 vortex, but i'll get another one a b4 my tank get cycled ... why do you think i would have dead space.....

The Eheim 1262 should work fine. As far as the other question you had regarding a Ca Reactor. I have had a reef for well over 20 years. You can start your basic system by dosing a 2part system like B-Ionic and or go to bulkreefsupply.com and use their mix at home 2 part. I use the system with a dosing pump.

Your original question on the other thread was regarding keeping SPS without a reactor. You can without a doubt. I prefer the 2 part since using a reactor can create issues with low pH. Some tanks do fine, others struggle. I do NOT like kalkwasser since it can bind phosphates in the system creating other issues.

Randy Holmes Farley in the Reef Chemistry forums uses a 2 part. He's a chemist (FWIW) and prefers the 2 part dosing.

What you will find is that SPS require pretty stable alkalinity. The reason many folks use Ca Reactors is because it maintains very stable alk. SPS dont like fluctuations in alk at all....

I am biased but...this is how I'd recomend you proceed. Get a 2 part additive and dose it manually for a while, until the tank cycles and stabilizes. As you want to add SPS or other stonies, proceed to get a dosing pump from the above mentioned website or another. You can look at Litermeters also. They look spendy but when you consider the cost for equip invested in a reactor, it's not really a consideration.

My 2 cents,...

hey henry thanks for your time.... i really appreciate....

1>so i just got my tank... will try to get things going this weekend but i'm waiting on some other part such as skimmer... i'll finish the rest of the plumbing this weekend....

2>do you think that i should get a doser pump + total two part kit or just the two part starter kit...

3>another question is i bought a vortech ph mp40 but just one; do you think i need to get another mp40 or can i just get a mp20?

4> what pump would be the best for my system?

5> should i wait for the tank cycled b4 i start using the two part kit?

i'm not planning to upgrade anytime soon so i want to make sure that i buy everything onces only....

I posted my answers after each of your questions.

YOU CAN START WITH ONE AND GO FROM THERE

4> what pump would be the best for my system?
THE EHEIM 1262 HAS BEEN A PROVEN PERFORMER

5> should i wait for the tank cycled b4 i start using the two part kit? YES

i'm not planning to upgrade anytime soon so i want to make sure that i buy everything onces only.... I know how you feel, buy once, cry once....
2 PART STARTER KIT

BTW, the vortech's are pricey, I have used Tunze's and do not have experience with the VT's. I do know there are a great many folks that use them and like them. You WILL need alot of flow for a full SPS tank. Figure 50-80X turnover in the tank once you start adding SPS corals. (I'd wait 4 months to add delicate corals)

If you have any other questions, you can post here and I will try to follow up or feel free to PM me....

Take Care

what would be your suggestion on for a good pump for my tank?
what do you think would be a better skimmer... i would like to get a vertex but some ppl telling me that ASM Skimmer would be a better???? i don't want to upgrade anything in a long run..
what type of salt would be the best for reef?

Pump to run the tank, external, I'd go with an Iwaki (japanese motor).
Inside the sump, which is what I believe you want to do. Go with an Eheim or better yet a Tunze. You dont need to push a ton of water through your sump. For a 90 I'd shoot for 5-8X per hour turnover from your tank. The real flow needs to be in the display.

Vertex makes good skimmers. You may want to look at the Octopus Extreme models, they are getting good reviews. I am running an H&S and like it also. ASM skimmers are also getting great reviews. If I had a significant amt of money to spend on any one or two things it would be

For the money you are spending. I would buy the best skimmer you can afford before the Vortex in the display. There are less expensive ways to create great flow in the tank.

Second - Good Lighting (I think you have that covered)

Third - Great Tank flow, for sps you should shoot for 60 + turnover rate in the tank. For a 90 that'd be 5000 Gl Per hour (in the display)

Best salt...thats a loaded question. I have used reef crystals for a long time and liked it, had not problems with it.

Definitely loaded but I agree with Reef Crystals. best bang for your buck.

^ I use RC too. I plan on having corals soon and this type seems to carry good amounts of elements/minerals.

ok for the pump you think i should go with tunze or eheim...
ok the problem here is that i'm ref. sump is so big... 36x15.5 x18tall. so that means i don't have a lot space insede the stand.

i already got a mp40 just bought yesterday it will be here next week... i guess now that i'll buy another one...

light will be an nova E Pro.. t5's

for salt i was thinking a d&d; i heard that is one of the best for hard core reef

another thing is that i really don't care about that money... i just want to spend it the right way, cuz i don't want to upgrade later on..... so no wasting money here
