Setting up Ozone... what do I need to get?

Hi Jeremy,

Thinking about setting up ozone.. what do I need to get, can you reply with the links?

I have the omega skimmer; do I just need the ozonizer and plug it in to the skimmer? I read some people dont even use the air dryer, but the red sea ozonizers come with an air dryer? I have an ORP prob already with my apex as well. I also need an air pump right?

Also, what is the difference between the red sea basic versus the deluxe? THe basic 200mg is $100 less then the deluxe 50mg!

Also, my ORP on average runs around 420-460 right now.. What should I set the apex to turn off the ozone?

Thanks in advance!

Two last Q... is it safe?...

And I am running N&P media with my bio reactor.. is this compatible with ozone?

Just cleaned out the ORP prob.. readings show 320 now... much better..

And I think I figured out the deluxe model is just the basic with an ORP prob and a built in controller.. Since I have an apex, I guess i only need the basic.. Do you have the basic with 50mg/hr in stock? Website only has the 200mg basic model.

Okay just did more research.. Some say use carbon to get ride of residual ozone.. some say its not necessary?...

First, how do I get the skimmer output to go into my media (carbon) reactor?

Do you definitely want to inject into the skimmer? I also highly suggest building some type of tray over the lid of the cup to cover the air release holes to put some carbon over it for scrubbing off excess. Is this possible for you to DIY?

Oh I thought that was the recommended route and thats why the skimmers come with ozone ports? Do you recommend an ozone reactor instead?

Personally, I do not like the idea of injecting into a skimmer. No matter how "ozone safe" the skimmer is claimed to be by the manufacturer you still run the risk of breaking down joints, melting other plastic parts on the skimmer, as well as degrading any o-rings / seals on the skimmer. Personally, I would buy a really cheap skimmer to inject into and use it for ozone purposes only, or use the MTC or Octopus ozone reactor to inject into.
