Setting up predator tank

Have some questions. Currently i have a 220 thats been up and running for a couple years. It has some soft coral, 3 clowns, and two wrassses in it. I want to convert tank to predator tank. I added a snowflake, and undurated trigger and a lionfish. Lion and trigger are small 2 inches Id way. I know once they get bigger the clowns and probably the wrasses will have to go. Id like to add a dogface puffer, harlequin tusk, and possobly some other triggers, possibly grouper? What kind would do best with the lion and the triger. And I know its a large tank but these are large fish, what would be my limits as far as overloading? Thanks

FYI, the trigger(s) may eventually start to chew on the lionfish's fins. This is not uncommon. I'd also be wary about adding anything once the undulated trigger has established its own territory. They like to kill other fish that come in to their space. If you really want to keep the undulated, I'd relocate it while you add other fish... then after a month or so, try adding it back. Definitely remove the clowns and wrasses or they will become food for the lion (unless you remove it). Your other fish choices should work out but you won't be able to add very many since they all get decent size and produce a considerable amount of waste. For the grouper, stick to one that will stay small.

Im not set on the trigers do you have any other suggestions that would be ok in the tank with the lion that might allow for more fish i dont particularly want a 220 with just 5 or 6 fish in it

Triggers are fine with a lion. There have been zero documented cases with video or photo evidence of this. It's been a rumor in this hobby for 15 years, yet not a shred of evidence lol

I kept a Picasso with a lion and puffer in a 220.

Also look at perhaps angels, butterflies, and wrasses.

I have seen it. Definitley not going to happen all the time but it does happen. Also have seen a lionfish spine a puffer, causing the puffer to die.

Anyway, the lion is going to restrict your fish list due to it's large mouth. As the other poster stated, angels, butterflies would be good choices. You could get a quoyi parrotfish. Still lots of choices but your fish will have to be larger so you won't be able to put a ton of them in the tank.

+1 any fish with ornamental fins are not good tank mates with triggers, thats the main reason I don't have a trigger is because of my Moorish Idol

an undy trigger does not need to feel at home until they attack. they are one of the most aggressive and dangerous fish in the world's oceans. they are pure trouble and kill and torment other fish and livestock for sheer pleasure. beautiful fish, I love them dearly, but they truly a species only fish and must be kept by themselves.

Yeah i keep reading that everywhere i look. Kind of dissapointed that the lfs didnt let me know. Its little now 2 or 3 inches

With the undy being young if i get what i want in there now while ots little, is it possible that its more docile since everything in there came up together? Or what if i put a larger fish in such as an emperor or anpther triger to keep it in check?
