Setting up the 9002

Well, after getting the correct part from Roger... I'm at least now getting foamy bubbles... however I'm having difficulty getting the 9002 nano skimmer to bubble into the cup. It has been set up for a full 2 days now, so I would have thought it would be adjusted to my tank by now... I checked it after a full day of running and the foam was almost completely gone. I then unplugged it and plugged it in again and the foam shot up a little bit then receded once again.

This is my first protein skimmer...
anyone have any tips for getting this thing to work better?

If it is a new tank there may be nothing to skim. I would set the water level .5 in below the marked line. Open the screw 3 full turns. wait a couple days, if you collect water open the screw 1/4 turn a day until you get skimmate that is about the color of tea, if you collect water, close it 1/4 turn a day until you get a darker skimmate

Was there any bubble production when you checked it or is there just a minimal amount. I had a 9002 a few months back that was having similar issues. When we opened it up we found that there was a very small blockage which was disturbing tha airflow, and not allowing the skimmer to work properly.

If you can, you can have a quick look at the unit and check the pump to see if there is anything restricting the unit. If not as Roger has mentioned set up with water level just below the mark and adjust the screw. If open the screw so there is just enough airflow to get the bubbles rising roughly to the level of the skimmer opening you should find the skimmer should work nicely. If you find the unit if filling up with too much water you can close the screw a little.

Cheers

I've checked the airline and pump for blockages, and I made sure there weren't any kinks. Last night it was working perfectly for hours and had just a tiny bit of clear foam going into the cup. This morning the foam has receded to the bottom. I'll try having the water .5 inches below the line... I guess I just need to be patient with this thing.

Thanks for the replies.
