Ok I have my laptop connected to my profulix w/ a usb cord. Im now tring to get the wireless card to connect it. I am following the directions the best I can but I dont get it. One of them said to connect w/ usb and when connected click on system and select wlan. Well when I do that all mine shows is serial. I also tried using just the controller itself. I went to do it it says that it will say com1-serial then com2 would say com2-wlan select it. Well mne says com2-serial
What am I missing here ?
The instructions are somewhat vague and often leave the user frustrated especially since most of us lack WLAN education. After hours of researching on Google about WLAN know-how and searching RC for clues for other users on how to connect I finally found out how to accomplish it.
First, go to your router's setup page [example Linksys default is 192.168.100.100 in web page browser]. Enter your password and then go DHCP Server Setting and set a Static DNS with your desired address for the Profilux. Example I used 192.168.100.107 ; note the only the last three digits may change. Also make sure it's within your routers IP Address Range, stay within those allotted values. Take note of you SSID. Save settings.
Now connect using the USB to the Profilux. Go under System, select WLAN click on Configuration. Enter the static IP address you chose, for example 192.168.100.107 and match the SSID to that of your network [ie. Reef]. Select Infrastructure, hit Save.
Next go back your Router's setup page and disable the security, then go onto the Profilux software and disconnect from the USB connection and select WLAN, click the 3 dots and make sure the IP corresponds to the one you chose. Click Connect, it should work.
Finally, follow up with Step #3 on the WLAN tutorial and make sure your Channel, Security Type [WPA is better than WEP], Password, SSID is the same as the one in the Router.
HTH.
