awww dont say that. are you sure??????

If so does someone have a male there willing to part with???

Do the diodogorgia and swiftia open up to feed with the dwarfs on them? I'd considered something similar, as bbs and other dwarf sized foods would work well to sustain them, though from what I've read they need frequent feedings, or some sort of plankton drip system. Either way you are going to have some fat dwarfs. Any full tank pics?

Yes there always open feeding i feed phyto and rotifeast, The rotifeast is better for the seafans. and i feed every other day. And if you PM me ill put some full tank pics up in the next couple of days cause im gettin some new stuff in for my tank.

=D

Both of the gorgonians you are keeping have polyps that are too big to catch phytoplankton, and even rotifers are on the small side. If you are feeding bbs to your dwarves multiple times a day that will be a good daily staple, but you should also feed larger foods like cyclopeeze if you want to keep them alive.

Well i feed all three and not once have i seen them eat bbs. one melted the day after i took the pic. i blame the distributor cause my water is great. so i will keep feeding all three because i have other stuff to feed. Plus if you read on the bottle of rotifeast it says to feed it to seafans. And thats what i recommed to my customers.

Rotifeast advertises that it can be used to feed seafans only because some gorgonians do eat rotifers. Keep in mind, however, that there are many different kinds of gorgonians that have different polyp sizes and feeding requirements that are unique to the species. The species you are keeping will eat some rotifers, and should take bbs if the current allows them to catch them, but you should also try to incorporate some other planktonic foods for the sake of nutrition. I'm always surprised by how commonly these corals show up in seahorse tanks, despite the fact that they are in no way easy to maintain.

Here is a link to a thread on diodogorgia. Tons of other good information in the Non-photosyn thetic forum.

yeah rots are pretty small for those gorgs

copepods and brineshrimp are excelent foods though, and maybe some of the smaller amphipods. if you can find the small ones on the beach or something (Omuch smaller than gamerus, but cant remember genus name) but the dwarfs love them, they are long and thin like a centipede

Different species of Gorgonians eat different things based on their polyp size. Dr. Shimek gave a great speech at IMAC last year about Didogorgia feeding. His research showed that live bbs was the correct size for them. He also pointed out that the type of flow in the aquarium makes all the difference. Laminar flow is difficult to do in an aquarium, but it's the best way to care for these Gorgonians. The polyps must be bell shaped in the current in order to catch the food. If the flow is broken up too much, it distorts the polyp shape and they are unable to capture food as efficiently.

I've had a few Diodogoriga sp. for well over a year now, but they are slowly dying because I don't have the right flow or foods.

The photosynthetic Gorgonians you get from Florida are bullet proof. I have a bunch of beautiful ones that have more than doubled in size since I got them.
