I know how easy it is to tell the difference in the green mandarins... but how can you tell in the target mandarins? pics would be great...thanks

well then we have a female......, as the dorsal fin is very short, but thinking about it, i have never seen a male target mandrin..... EVER!!!!!!! and we cant seem to find a single pic online of a male?????? hmmmmm, i wanted to get chloe a mate.... is this even possible since she has been in my tank for almost 3 years now? how is the introduction going to work, will she take to the male, or will she deny it and attack it?????
shane

Chances are your female will now attack and kill the incoming male. You have to introduce them at the same time

I beg to differ. I've found if you add a larger male for the smaller female there tends to be very little problems.

Ahhhh very good to know! I have been waiting for the availability of a male Green Mandarin for a while before purchasing a female. Might look at this as an option

I have a small male but haven't been able to find a female. Looks like we are in the exact opposite situation. I recently picked up a male and female green mandarin and in those it seems female are a lot less frequent. Maybe you just got lucky.
