Sexy Shrimp

While the above posts are true, they don't have to be kept with others. I've seen them in the ocean alone, in pairs, and in groups. IME groups are better, they seem to be less shy and more active, but I have seen them alone and doing fine.

where have you seen them in the ocean? in florida?

I bought 6 for my tank so they can have a nice group.
5 of them stay in a group and there is one that is alwaysa arround the tank, usually on the other side then the other sexy shrimp. I almost never see all 6 at once but yesterday I did.
So go figure of the 6 I got 5 that like the group and one loner.

Here are 4 of them

Sorry but this is about the best I could do for pics of my sexy shrimp. You can see in the pics they are slightly bigger then large chunks of sand so its like trying to take pics of a grain of sand with detail!

Cheers

They are worth getting and are so fun to watch in groups.

A pistol shrimp does pose a threat to them though. What size tank do you have and how big is your pistol shrimp?
I think you may be ok with sexy shrimp and a pistol as long as your sexy shrimp have something to hide in like an anemone or a coral. Otherwise they are more vulnerable to attack.

And a nasa snail wouldn't do any harm to it unless it were dead.

I can gladly tell you that a nass snal is no danger to sexy shrimp.
I host crabless CUC's is both my tanks and Nassarius Snails make up a good portion of my CUC. I'm not sure I turst pistol shrimp the same reasom I don't trust crabs. They can be bullys, and they can be oppertunistic feeders.
I have 6 sexy shrimp and apx 24 nass snails(in my reef tank)and both have seen 2 tanks over the last 6-7 months. So far I have not lost a sexy shrimp but lost 2 snails.

As for the pistol shrimp that would compleatly depend on what kind of pistol. Pistol shrimp can be very agressive and cause havoc on anything they could bully so sexy shrimp would make a eays target. Provided that sexy shrimp are suprisingly fast....and believe me when I telll you for a extreamly small creature I've seen them evede capture with the best of any fish/shrimp I've had.
