Sfiligoi.

It's the ballasts for the MHs which are contained within the ACLs. The Infinity XR4 pendants themselves come with fittings for four T5s

Hi 64 Ivy,

Everything is included in the price:

* Pendant
* Ballasts
* Bulbs
* Hanging Kit
* Moonlights

J Craft,

The confusion may have come in with the fact that YES ACLS can be added to a SOLESET at a later date. BUT Infinity must be purchased with ACLS from the start.

HTH.

thanks,
AO

The ACLS can be connected to any fixture. Mine are connected to LAIIIs. The wiring also allows for on/off control of T5 ballasts--that's hard to do without using the sfiligoi pendants with integrated T5s b/c of the wiring, but it's possible--again, it's just on/off control of the T5s. Currently I have my ACLS setup for a 2 hr ramp up period, 4 hr peak and 2 hr ramp down. It's very, very cool and "natural looking", but I dunno there's any physiologic effects on say photosynthetic animals. Certainly my clams and softies are doing just fine, but I can't comment on the more colorful animals b/c my fish eat 'em all......

Chuck,
What kind of ballst comes with ACLS controllers?..HQI,M59 or E-ballast?
Its kind of important for me> Right now i use radiums on HQI .I Am planning on EVS or RF-12k...Is it hard to programm them?

Should I start a new thread with this heading:

"ACLS dimmable ballasts cause fish to eat LPS corals" :D

Seriously...I wanted to get these so bad...I consider them the Ferrari of lighting...you don't even have to turn them on to look cool!

That said, I ended up getting an Aqua Medic setup for much less money that I'm happy with. But...maybe some day...

Hey moonpod. You should only have your sunrise and sunset last 1hour each. Other wise it is REALLY hard on your bulbs and such. That is what Alessandro in Italy told me.

I think that the ACLS unit is what makes these lights. Once I found out I couldn't add on the infinity model I had to spit out a few more bucks for two more. I was going to get to and get two others alittle later., but like I said before. The were worth it to me.

Steve, the 2 hr dim/brighten is so cool though.....it's much more drawn out ya know? I figure, if I've gotta change bulbs every 9 mos instead of a year BFD ya know?

Mike, the ACLS has a built in eballast.

Hah, jds, I wish I could blame the ACLS...no it's just the usual culprits...angels not being good reef citizens....it's ok, now I can get some triggers and what not and not stress it too much...I guess maybe my clams, but none of those are "special".

Chuck,
I was told by AO that i can have HQI Ballst as well...Thats what i am planning to get..I am not really looking for E-ballast..
I hope i get right info from AO..:)

Mike I would find that to be interesting.....I dunno how they would make a magnetic HQI dimmable ballast......now whether or not they want to call their eballasts "HQI" is a debatable issue--of note in the past there have been european market eballasts that run bulbs more the way a HQI does vs the run of the mill US/Asian eballast.

Chuck,
I found this very interesting my self...FRom what i know ,its impossable to make HQI dimmiable..I might be wrong..
I just need to make sure ,i am getting wringht product for my big$$$:))

Mike, do you remember the Giesemann eballasts? They ran 250w DE bulbs very much the way a M80 ballast did. But they were eballasts. I dunno if they ever made a 400w version.

Thankx anyway for inputs..:))

i know people try blv-14k and they appear to be very yellow and last only 5-6 month...Maybe u right,they might use some kind of speacial ballst..

I'm sorry but there's no way the ACLS is a magnetic ballast. It's way to light weight. It's definitely electronic. That being said it's european. The g'man 250w eballast ran 250w DE the way the M80 did in terms of wattage and output

Chuck,
Do u have 250w model or 400w.? I am looking to get 400w and still not sure if i should get this european type electronic ballast or stay with my PFO -HQI. I really like to know what is the differents between this two ballasts.
