Shallow tank and Evergrow It2040 question.

Need help with a question. I'm in the process of doing a 30 gal rimless build.

I'm working on mounting the Evergrow It2040 fixture over the tank. My tank is 24"x24"x12" tall. Did a search and the information I found deals a lot with deeper tanks. What would be good height for the fixture off the water?

That seems like a lot of light for that size tank.

That said, I would think you'd want it around a foot so you get enough spread. Intensity isn't really going to be an issue since your tank is only a foot deep, so I'd come up with something adjustable to hang it and experiment a little bit until you're happy with how it looks. In this case since you're going to have more than enough intensity it's more about managing light spillage and spread in the tank than anything else.

I would remove the lenses otherwise most of your corals will probably bleach

With the LED being adjustable, would that help control the bleaching?

Not really, removing the lenses would increase the spread and less chance of focusing light onto the coral.
