I have to admit I don't know much about shark but if we can't keep a yellow tang in less than a 3' 75G tank, I wonder how we can justify keeping a shark that big in a swiming area only twice his lenght. It seems like the same ratio as having a tang in a 10G tank.
The tidepool - lagoon effect is very nice though, I like it a lot.

There right up the street from me, its a pretty good size tank but kinda hard to see in. Its made out of concrete blocks with two kinda small windows on each side.
The store is pretty good, but useally overpriced IME.
The tank was made out of Haydike blocks, the kind you buy at Home Depot that are 16 x 8 x 8 and have two hollow holes in them. They filled them with rebar (that went into the slab foundation of the store), and concrete. Then the inside was lined with fiberglass and sometype of reef-safe resin that public aquariums use.
The top has the treated wood for a nice cap. The outside hasn't been painted yet, because they want to watch it for any possible leaks. Once the paint is on the concrete blocks, it would be hard to locate it I'm sure.
Good questions. I was asking all kinds of questions myself.
The shark was in a fishtank years ago, and couldn't even really turn around. Then it was put in one of those huge round feeding troughs. Then it was put in a huge T-shaped wooden aquarium with an acrylic or glass front that it lived in for about a year. This new tank is huge by comparison to its past. I wondered how they picked it up and put it in the new tank. They had it swim over a sheet, then the two owners picked up the sheet to move it into its new home, and it didn't even squirm.
The pictures really dont do justice for the tank. It looks alot bigger in person. It was kinda weird seeing these little yellow tangs and stuff swimming right by the shark though. I remember when that shark was only a foot long or so. Ahh memorys...
i agree with slevesque. its a real nice tank /setup with a great idea but that shark needs to be brought to an aquarium and he could put other fish in that big tank that aren't as large
nice pics dude, and the reason they have the prawns seperated is because they eat anything they can catch, put one in a tank full of neons over night and you will awake to one well fed prawn
