SWANK

I am interested in setting up a tank for a shark.. Ive had a reef tank for about 4 or 5 years and had great sucess with it. Now i would like to do a shark.. I would like to know what i would need for equipment such as filters and such.. I am thinking of 300 gallon tank the longest and widest for that size.. Thanks

It all depends what kind of sharks you are looking to get .most sharks average around 36" in long so you want a tank at least that wide.I have a 500 gal which is 8x3x3.You will need live rock for the tank & a great skimmer because sharks produce alot of ammonia .I would have at least a 100 gal sump that you can partition for refuge to soak up some nutrients .The rock work should be left as open as you can for swimming room & a cove of some sort for them to rest.pick up the Scott W Michael sharks & rays book lots of info in there.

Yeah, what Paveking said.

Keys to sharks:
Clean water (nitrate under 10)
One cave to hide in (No more or you don't ever see them and not enough swimming space)
Big Tank
Food
