Sharks

My LFS sells smooth hound sharks, they have a 750gal. indoor pond, its a really nice setup, i'd say it has about 4 small sharks in there, along with several hundred pounds of LR. The sharks have been alive for about 5-6 months, so i guess they are doing something right.

I want to build a shark room off the side of my house. just 1 panel glass and the rest concrete and marine paint build it 10 by20by10. 10 wide 10 high 20 long.I wonder how many gallons that is?

a huge tank if you want the shark to have enough room to swim then comes the electric bill, and all the other bills and you better have deep pockets becuase it will add up real quick, sharks are cool but hard to properally house

If you get a Marbled cat shark you only need a 100g adults get to 24 in but young are only 4 in and are low maintence.

Why hold a shark captive when you can scuba dive with them in the wild? We even feed them in the bahamas... Watching a shark do endless laps arond a tank thats most likely 100 times to small for him is sad not fascinating....

A 6 foot shark in a 4000 gallon tank? Try living in your bathroom for a week. That shark would need a 40,000 gallon tank not 4000. You missed some zeroes somewhere.

Big Al's has a 3.5 foot black tip reef shark in a 9000 gallon tank and in my opnion its so cruel. A tourist attration at feeding time...

Do not build a room of to the side of your house, atleast not one with only marine pain and concrete, Concrete cracks, then you would be scuttled, If you want to do this I suggest an EDPM membrane, maybe welded together chemically to form 4 sides of the rectangular solid tank, maybe have all drop in plumbing from above and a metric butt load of Sailfin mollies to keep it busy for a while (get some skylights in there, and some low light macro algea and rockwork for fry to hide in) but still, have you any idea how much the glass or acrylic to cover that viewing side would cost, ouch.
