Sharks

I got this shark egg for my:hb2:. I have never had one before so I asked the guy about them and what to do while still in the egg. He said to clip it on a vegi clip and keep it in the current. That is what I did now I am just wondering if anyone had any more advice on this man eater? He should be hatching within a month.

I saw a couple of these at Ocean Floor a few weeks back. I found some basic info on them on liveaquaria but its pretty basic. Keep soft sand vs coral due to them scratching their abdomen and getting infections. 350+ tank size and to feed them squid and live feeder shrimp.

I wish I had a tank big enough to house one of these beauties. I saw a pair of bamboo's at AA a few years back and I loved to watch them swim. ENJOY!!

Depends on which shark it is. You need a tank 1.5 times wider than their length I believe 3-4 times their length. Depending on your shark that's 350-10,000 gallon tank. From what I have read in forums. Check the fish only forum for more info.

Not to mention you should have a round tank, not a square. This is due to sharks being efficient swimmers, they can get speed in short distances and ram into the end of the tank, this can cause a hemorrhage in their head.

As an aquarist that has hatched 2 of those in the past I know that they might not eat the first few days but the best way to get them to eat is to target feed them small pieces of shrimp or other salt water meat. If they won't eat you can try some garlic to stimulate their appetite. Make sure they have places to hide because as babies that's all they do. Ours started eating so well they got fat and we had to cut them back to 3 pieces of meat 3 times a week. They are fun but can get quite big we have a 3 foot male at the wildlife world zoo.

Oh man! This is great stuff! Thanks for the info. You know this shark was a gift and I bought out of reaction. Kinda like my wife and crafting stuff. Lol. I always thought it would be cool to have my own shark. I can't wait till he hatches!
