Shelf / Refugium Questions

Well, I think it'd be best if I got a tall, 5-6' shelf to go next to my tank. I'll use it to store my two auto-topoff Gatorade dispensers, my ballasts, equipment, and maybe a 45g (48"L x 15" x 15") refugium. I have a few questions.

1. Are there any good shelves that fit the description? Ones that could hold probably 400 lbs?

2. How do you plumb a refugium that isn't part of a sump without drilling? It'll probably be at a higher level than the sump. Where do I put the pump?

3. In an area of my sump that was meant as a refugium (dad won't allow lighting under stand), I put a bunch of LR rubble. It has pretty low flow because somehow the pump in the center of the sump prefers to take water from the other side (water enters sump at both ends) instead of receiving an equal quantity of water from both ends. Should I keep -- or even add more of -- this LR rubble in this "low flow zone" or should I take it out for fear of nitrate accumulation? Well, with a DSB and macroalgae in the display (and refugium if it gets setup) the threat is lessened, but it's still a problem. That entire half of the sump currently serves no purpose besides having the temperature probe in it.
