SHell deformity and possible pinched mantle

I got this squamosa clam from a friend and it doesn't appear to be in the greatest health...but I could be wrong since this is my first calm.

Can you guys tell me if the clam has pinched mantle?
There is also a gap on the right shell and the mantle doesn't appear to extend past it. Was this caused by low calcium levels in the water column? Will it grow back normally if I kept the calcium, alkalinity and magnesium at appropriate levels? Algae has also started to grow on the inside portion of the shell around this gap.

Any tips, tricks and knowledge for me would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

sorry for the terrible pictures...not the greatest at taking aquarium pictures:wildone:

Here is a link to an article I had read before I got mine. I can't give you a yes or no about the pinch mantle but the article has solutions if you are just seeing it.
