shipping charges?

Question about shipping charge.

So if I order a Aquacultured coral it will ship from WI, but if I add a fish to the same order, it ships from CA I have to add $14.99 now?

I thought it used to be I paid $34.99 for everything (under $225)... did this just change?

StrategicReef,

That is correct, although we offer many exceptional fish in our Divers Den area that will also ship from our Wisconsin facility. All LiveAquaria orders are shipped from either California or Wisconsin. If the order you are placing is from one location you will be charged $34.99 for shipping on orders of $224.99 or less. If your order includes items from both California and Wisconsin the charge for shipping from both locations will only be an additional $14.99 charge, not including Live Rock and Sand shipped from California.

If you have additional questions or concerns please feel free to contact us.

tonyh67,

Thank you for your comments. We appreciate you posting your thoughts. We do our best to keep our shipping prices as low as possible. For many years we had one shipping fee for our customers with items both from California and Wisconsin, even though each package had it’s own shipping cost. With recent increases in shipping charges, we found it necessary to pass a portion of the shipping cost for the second package along to our customers, with a $14.99 additional shipping cost instead of our $34.99 shipping and handling cost. We hope this further explains our shipping costs and reasons for the additional charge.

I wish the shipping would be cheaper. I ordered many times when there was free shipping.. $34.99, I still ordered sometimes, it's not always easy to find the fish and coral I want (all in stock for one big order) so $50 per order is alot.

Just my opinion.

It doesn't seem fair the customer had to pay more for your logistical issues. If I ordered 4 books from an establishement, I wouldn't be happy If I was tagged along additional $10, just cause one of the books had to come from a different warehouse. I have had several shippers ship split orders from multiple locations but had never seen them charge twice. JMO.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to further address your concerns regarding our shipping charges. Due to an increasing number of orders with combined shipments from both our Wisconsin and California facilities, we have found it necessary to add a minimal standard shipping fee that will be applied to orders with items shipping from these two locations. Unlike other companies, we do not charge extra for multiple box orders shipping from one facility, heating and cooling packs, or heavy weight packages.

Rest assured, we are not attempting to profit on shipping and handling. The actual shipping amount charge to our customers only covers a portion of our annual FedEx charges. In order to keep shipping charges reasonable for our customers, Dr. Race Foster and Dr. Marty Smith personally cover the remaining portion.

I ordered I think it was 275lb of "gear" and it cost me $18 in shipping. So you just have to be smart with what you get, and how you order.
