shipping question on zoo's

I just received 5 frags of various zoos, and none of them have opened yet. It's been two days. My question is that they were shipped in a stainless steel thermos and weren't bagged or anything. Would that cause a problem?

if the zoas were shipped well and were shipped healthy, they should open on the same day. Several times i have shipped zoas and the buyer told me that the zoas were open when they first opened the package.

Give them some time. Especially if they were just fragged it can take a bit for them to come back out.

I have received shipped zoos in nothing more than a plastic bag zoos wrapped with wet paper towels inside - 2 day delivery and everyone of they did well after about 3-4 days.

But there is no problem with them sitting in a stainless steel container? I was just wondering if that would have anything to do with it. The thermos didn't smell the greatest and I didn't know whether that sort of metal was bad for them?

No, those are food grade containers, which means they cannot leak or folks will be getting sick and lawsuits galore. I have heard many reefers use those as a cheap way to send frags insulated - never heard of any issues.

I've heard that an iodine dip will help them to open up. That is if you didn't already dip them when you got them. If they're shrinking or sliming that's a bad sign.
