Shipping Shrooms, any success?

I haven't shipped them that way, but I have received them. I had 8 or 9 Ricordea floridas and a couple zoos shipped to me by USPS 2 - 3 day Priority from SeaLife Florida and they came perfectly healthy. They were shipped during early fall and packaged in bags with styrofoam for insulation. I wouldn't try that until the weather warms up a little though.

Thanks, I will try it but will wait for the weather to warm up, we will be having temps in the 40ish.

do you think they would survive being shipped in the cold if they have plenty of heat packs? I am planning on placing an order from sealifeflorida.com this wednesday but it will be temps near 0 degrees here in Vermont. I really don't want to wait so I hope that if enough heat packs are placed in the shipping container it'll suffice.

That's a question you should probably ask them. I'd be shocked if they offer 2 - 3 day priority this time of year, since as far as I know there arent any heat packs that last that long and one of those space-age thermoses that keep almost all the heat would probably cost more than overnighting it.

If you're wanting to have them overnight it then I would think it'll be fine with a heatpack or two and styrofoam. Besides, they have an "arrive alive" guarantee on most items as far as I know.

I did speak to them and they do ship this time of year. Ken says he packages them with two slow burn 40+ hour heat packs that would keep them nice and warm for most of the trip.

Ken's great - I would ask him first what he would do if he were the one receiving the corals and go from there. I am sure you could work something out with him where if you pay he can hold what you want and send it out when that nasty blizzard\front\storm system thing is gone

I've decided to just wait until Friday to place my order and have Ken ship them out the following Monday. I just think it's unfair to the livestock to take a chance that they could be stuck at an airport due to bad weather and die. Next week is supposed to be in the low 20's for temps during the day and no major storms up here in Vermont.

I knew they still ship in winter... I just wasn't sure if they do 2-3 day priority shipping. Sounds like they do :D I plan to order some more oddball rics from them this spring if I can get a group order going at my reef club.

Have you had success with their oddball assortment kikn? Knowing his product I am actually very tempted I bet you get some cool stuff. I am waiting for him to get a mated pair of jawfish in before i order.

Here are some pics of the oddballs I got (some of the pics aren't the greatest):

I'd say I got some pretty decent ones, especially the first which just happens to be my favorite Ric :D The best part is I ordered 2 oddballs and I got 3, two of which were multiple-mouthed and already close to finished splitting.
