Shoal of Azure Damselfish?

Does anyone successfully have a school/shoal of Azure damsels fish? From what I read they are one of the more peaceful damsels. I was watching a Julian spring video and noticed he has a bunch in his tank which got me thinking if they will be peaceful enough in a shoal?

I have 3 in a 315 gal would have more but aquired these from a friend . They do nip but don't chase relentlessly. they are also in different areas of the tank T all times so no shoaling . This is just my experience

I'm setting up a 6' 120g shallow reef and have back and forth from Chromis or some azure damsels for the tank

They tend to stick together, but not as well as chromis. And bear in mind they have some growth potential. A dominant can reach 4". On the other hand, if you have damsels, and there is a 'dominant' that claims space, they are more LIKELY to stick together from time to time. They at least would provide a big splash of bright blue and yellow and quite a bit of movement.

I have 5 in my 75 but they don't shoal. They each have there little section of rock and occasionally chase one another. Had them for ~2 years. Beautiful little fish.

I think I notice more togetherness because I have a 4-5 inch domino running that tank and that does stir things about. Most damsels ime get up and move mostly because the tank boss is behind them.

Haha. Well would you guys recommend the damsels or the Chromis?

I'm my current smaller tank I have

1x small yellow tang
2x perc clowns
1x blue line cleaner warse
1x azure damsels
1x banggai Cardinal

And some shrimp, crabs, snails. Etc

Not sure what else I will add yet. Possibly a few anthias and ideally a small shoal of either damsels or Chromis

Tank size? Chromis are highly susceptible to uronema marinum. I recommend against but if you do, you had better have a robust quarantine protocol.

My QT protocol is lacking. As they would be the newest addition I would prob just add them first then slowly add in my other fish

You can do two they are real nasty to each other Mine is missing a tail because the other bit it off. Tried to add more they hid in the overflo

In my experience, Azures are the only "damsel" I would ever keep on purpose. They do great in groups (although they don't school or shoal by any stretch of the imagination). They pretty much pick their spot and hang out there. That said, I would not put one in a smaller tank as they do need a territory. Great bang-for-buck fish to fill out a larger tank.

But they look so nice! Haha
