felt a slight shock when i was in my tank today on a cut I have on my hand. I also have a crocea clam that is a recent addition and as of late seems retracted, mantel just bairly flush with the edge of his shell, also have seen some stringy excriment(atleast that what it liks like) come out if the smaller valve on occasion. Have had the clam for 2 weeks now. fish dont seem any different, just my clam. Anyone experience similar results? I'm in the process of locating the source of the stray electricity, coming from somthing in the sump.

what fish do you have?

a little stray electrical current wont bother anything in your tank because its not grounded(or should i say making a ground) the reason we can feel a shock is because when we stick our hands in a tank with current in the tank our feet are on the floor and we(our bodies) create a path to ground

you could have had a tendon pop and feel like a shock. I have it happen to me all the time. I am an electrician, I get shocked more than I like to admit and a tendon pop feels alot like a shock.

try reachign in with the other hand

lol, this message NOT brought to you by the national saftey board. ..... try standing barefoot in a puddle and stick your other hand in and see what happens ....... BBBBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZTTTTTT. :hmm5:

ya ya, I work with electricity all day long as well(HVAC). I know exactly what your talking about skinz78 with the tendons poping, gets me to stop what i'm doing every time. anyways, the clam didn't make it. Found it this morning fully retracted and non responsive. Guess it was my fault to think that if I could Keep SPS that a clam would be no-problemo.

what fish do you have?

(2) maroon gold stripe
(1) six-line
(1) Star blenny
(3) red-tip anthias
(2) peppermint shrimp (spotted bugging the clam day before its death prior to lights on, they probly knew it was a gonner as it had not been looking 100% for several days)
some snails and both red & blue legged crabs
