Shooting Macro

The search mode is of again. I have a Powershot A610. A dinosaur 5MP basic beginners camera. Is there any possibility I could take macro picture with this camera??

I did try the macro option on the camera. I also fooled around with lighting and white adjustments. Do I need to purchase a seperate lens to attach to my camera??

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

your macro setting should work for decent pictures.i have a 7mp fuji point and shoot that takes very nice macros.if you want to see the true macro from your pics,then crop them down to the focus area of the pic.

I used that exact camera for some gorgeous pictures. Maybe you need to use a tripod to get the vibes out of the picture? Use the timer function to activate the shutter as well. For the WB, just set it to manual, aim it at something white in the tank and make sure it fills the entire frame (doesn't need to be focused) then hold down the menu button and it will set the white balance and I found it to be fairly close for colour rendition. Keeping the camera ultra stable and keeping the camera parallel to the glass to avoid distortion should really help. Then, like checkinhawk had mentioned, crop the picture down to what you really wanted in the frame.

As far as focusing, how much to you go in? Do you use any additional lens?
