Short and sweet, my 24 gallon nano

OK update time! I received the PH and rotating return thingy and put them in my tank. I don't like them, so I took them out. The revolving return is WAY too wimpy and the power sweep too bulky and big(I ordered the smallest one). SO, I stuck with my original set up.

Next update, I have received the last shipment of fish for my tank and I'm so happy!!!!! I received a tail spot blenny today, and he has got to be the coolest fish I have ever seen! His eyes just look around everywhere and he is soooo curious! I highly recommend one!!!!!! All of my fish are getting along fantastic and in fact, all hang out with eachother! I have some pics of my complete fish list and you'll see, they all stay right next to eachother and are happy!

Oh my God Amanda, that is a beautiful tank. That's the type of nano system I want to setup.

Are you running a sump with the main tank?

Amanda:

Any problems keeping the tank healthy with seven fish? How often do you do water changes and what quantity do you replace?

I have been seeking advice on setting up a 24g tank most folks have stated that a sump tank is is essential. They have also said that 4 fish is enough for a 24g tank. Then here is en example of a wonderful tank that has coral, live rock, invertebrates and 7 different type of fish, doesn't have a sump and looks incredibly beautiful. I guess that in this hobby anything is pretty much possible!

Amanda, how many pumps do you have in the tank?

Amanda:

I apologize for all this question, but I have one more for you. Which Sunpod version did you get, the 20" or the 24"?

Wow you only change 5 gallons a month ... I though you were doing 5 a week!

Econ ... I believe its the 20 inch. I have a cube very similar to a JBJ and use the 20 .. the 24 would be WAY too long

You've really inspired me for when my 24gal Aquapod comes. I already have 2 black clowns for it (from my 50 gal) and i thought I'd only be able to have one more fish, but now i know i'll happily have at least 3 tiny ones - that's exciting. Definitely a YWG and a purple firefish and maybe a purple pseudochromis. GREAT tanks!

Amanda:

Did you get that powerhead you were talking about at the begginning of the tread installed in the tank?

Update..... I can no longer care for my tank properly, so I have given my entire tank and set up away for free to my best friend's husband. He was happy to say the least. I can go and visit anytime to see the tank. The clams are getting huge, I lost to sps due to my neglet with calcium. Obviously, I am not superwoman as I previously thought, and I can't take care of 3 kids and my husband and a rat and 2 doves and a dog and fish. So, I will continue to offer any help I can to those who ask, and I can post pics of the tank from my friends house to show progress.

I hope you all are well, RJ, did you sell your tank?

Amanda-not superwoman!

Amanda,

I'm sorry to hear you'd to give up this hobby for the time being but hopefully you can get back in the very near future. It was all the pictures and updates you and nano lovers here in this forum that inspired me to start my nano and since I've just started a 75g. Thank you for all the info you have provided to help us going.

Amanda, best thread I have read on setting up a nano tank. I am new and know I can't follow your lead. But you gave me an idea what is involved settind a tank up. Thanks

Marty

Amanda, you're still superwoman in my book! We are all human, and you have done a wonderful job juggling so many different responsibilities. Besides, just because you have other priorities at the moment doesn't mean setting up another tank won't become a possibility in the future.

Feel free to call me anytime, although I'm currently living at the pool.
