Short and sweet, my 24 gallon nano

I would think the rounded corners would be easier to clean actually. It's going to get a ton of algae, I get direct sunlight in the windows adjacent every morning.

Beautiful Rooms Amanda!!! Love the Piano!!! and the horses:)

What ever you decide on will look great. You know what you are doing. What robster said sounds like a winner to me. I know lots of people do theirs like that. But whatever works for you.

I'll check with the local (Jacksonville, Fl) company that makes them to see if they ship to your state. Their work is excellent, it may be more then what you would pay locally when you add in the shipping charges but the stands are top notch. They are building me one similiar to the picture above, only it is going to have shelves on both ends of the tank. Let me know if you would like their info....

I'll let you know Ocnreef, I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.

Well, my YWG is missing again LOL He's either in the fuge or in hiding again, he's so weird!

Now that this tank is just about completed, I'm really looking into my next tank. My husband was laughing last night, he said " I knew that little tank wouldn't be enough" he's right, I have been bitten by the reef bug!

So, I'm looking at 5' tanks, just not quite sure on the style and gallons yet. I really like the look of the flat back hex, but for the same length, I could get retangle and get more room and gallons! Ugh, I need to make some calls to tenecor and a few other places.

Here is the 144g Oceanic Half Circle which is basically 58x29x29, so it is definately a tall tank which would require you to use 400w MH lighting I would think. Definately tough to get your hands in there and do work, being it is 29" tall. If you click on the 95g wave tank on that page, that is very cool!

We had that tank at the LFS where I work awhile back. It was cool, but its shape would make taking photos a challenge (kinda like a bowfront or half-circle). It's probably not a major consideration for most people, though.

WHAT!, making it any harder to take great pictures of a reef tank is a major consideration. For some!... Like me!... and Like Amanda!;)

LOL, I knew you would admit it, RJ! Not that it's anything to be ashamed of - we are proud of our addiction. ;)

I like trying or being able to catch a glimpse of what we see every day in our tanks, and presenting a picture of it to everyone here at RC. Yes, my tanks are something to be proud of, at least for me, and I am glad other's enjoy them too. I am also glad that I am able to help and inspire other's to improve there tanks as well as me learn from them and improve my own tanks.

Amanda I would get a nice medium stain in maple. It would look nice with the style and colors of your house. Since the piano is such a large piece with a lot of presence it can be any color and fit in. I think a black acrylic stand and hood on the tank however would look too contemporary for the space. Just my opinion though. It comes down to what looks good to you. I love your wall color btw, very warm and inviting. I can't stand white walls.

Yeah, we had that tank set up as our display tank. And let me tell you how much of a PITA it was to algea the narrow corner of that tank! I could scrape the rest with a mag float but that corner had to be done by hand every time. It was still pretty hard to get clean even by hand. Luckily someone bought the entire set-up as is. I was ssssoooo freakin' relieved!

By the way, that is one of the nicest nano's I have ever seen! Especially with being so young! Congrats on your success!

I just noticed that the thread has been kind of "open" to others pics so I'll post a pic of my 5 gal. This was from a couple of weeks ago, right after I got the xenia. It's actually grown A LOT since then. I've also got some new zoos and a coral or two have been moved, but that's not important. Here it is...

Nice tank hooterhead!!!!!

BTW, I encourage anyone and everyone to post pics of their tank, this thread is not just about me, but about anyone who would like to learn more like me and sharing pics is an awesome way to learn and show everyone how your system is coming along!

OMG! Total freak out this morning!!!! I come down the stairs(tank lights not on yet) and find my tank is completly cloudy white!!!!! I thought OH NO!! WHat the heck happened! I mean, I know bad things can happen fast in a small tank, so I thought the worst and before investigating anything, I ran to get my plastic containers and started filling them with RO water for an emergency water change. While the containers were filling, I went over to th etank to see if any fish were still alive. It's so white in there, it could pass for skim milk!!!!! To my amazment, the fish are fine. No eavy breathing or anything. While I'm grabbing carbon to through in there, I notice all my feather dusters are out and one of them happens to be smoking. WAIT, this is not so bad, this is actually good! In all my aquarium experience, I have seen corals spawn, stomatella and various other snails spawn, but have never seen a feather duster spawn so, basically, I have a tank full of sperm. EWWWWWWWWWWW

So, Although conditions are fine, I'm doing a 5 gallon water change. Hopefully I'll get some baby feather dusters, but I don't like a skim milk looking tank.

Here it's still smoking...
The lights weren't on yet, so sorry for the poor quality

Wow Amanda

You know I posted about my Anemone spawning after the set up in the Nano. Yes, it does get very cloudy, but I have never heard of a feather duster doing this...hummm I was worried because mine had a AW-full smell too. I just let it be then the next day it was fine. I did run carbon though and a 2.5 gal water change. All test were fine too. It should be fine but that is weird.
