The percs are about 2 1/2" and seem stuck in growth. I have a pair of picasso's that are about the same age and have grown larger and laying eggs now for about 6 months. Maybe they will show a growth spurt in the new tank. :) Thanks again!

You did it :bounce1: Congrats on the transfer.

I would go with Todd's suggestion to add an urchin.

Just want to comment on how beautiful & natural looking your tank is..
to have 1 gig do well is great -to have a tank full - Excellent !
would you care to share what your lighting is ?

Thanks Marina!! It's just the beginning though, only one week now and they haven't moved.

hottuna: Thanks for your nice words. They used to have 250w DE and now they are under 400w mogul. I plan to put an additional 250 in there for more coverage in the future.

davocean: Chevron sounds like a good option....I didn't know they stay that small, I thought they get closer to 10"?

Mr. Creamy: You are just too nice to me, I don't deserve your generosity! Should I be worried about the spines doing some damage to the nems? Also, did one start munching on Gary Mazrack(?)'s a while back? If you think it's safe, that would be a nice solution! I think one should just barely keep up with the growth to just keep it trimmed but not erradicate. What kind of urchin is it?

Pixie stick. ;)

I still owe you for all your help in the past.

I sort of have one in each tank, and they haven't caused any issues with the anemones. In fact, one urchin got too close to the green Haddoni ( in the downstairs tank ) -- at least I am assuming it got too close. The shell was on the sandbed one morning, and the anemone has been fine since then.

It is a tuxedo, like this one,

I'd go with a Tomini tang, C. tominiensis because of size, although my Purple tang which i got in '04 @~2" still hasn't grown passed 4" - 4.5" so you may be ok with one of them.

T.Rex, I didn't help that much. I hope you are taking it easy and making progress so you can go on more trips! :)
As scary as those urchins look, maybe I can use them.....at least in the Haddoni tanks, right? How are they with high flow? The gigantea tank has about 12-15,000 gph going through with some ebb.

marc price: Thanks for the suggestion, the Tomini is on my short list after yellow tang right now. I read that the purples are a bit more aggressive and cranky?.... although very pretty.

Yes you did. Hopefully next summer I will be able to get back out there.

I don't have a whole lot of flow in my tanks, but I don't think there would be any issue with one in a high flow tank. They are pretty darn hard to get off the rocks with ones hand.

I would avoid a purple. Back when I had one, it would go after my Clarkii pair, to the point where the male Clarkii would get cut deep enough to show up red.

Ouch! I remember your purple and you mentioned he's not mr. sunshine. So far, I think the yellow or Tomini (possibly chevron) in the gigantea tank, and urchins like yours in the haddoni tanks.

your tank is beautiful and i agree that adding a tang would be cool. a yellow tang would probably do great, regardless of the fact that its only 3 ft and would be in heaven with all that algae

Yeah, he was a mean SOB.

That seems like a good plan.

Not giving input on the tang but I just HAVE to post - I LOVE your tank. I love the low natural 'scaping that you have. I think it's the most natural looking tank I've ever seen. I love it ! Kind of refreshing to the wall o' SPS that we see posted everyday.

Awesome :D

Ethan W, Andymh, and miniwhinny, thank you! It sounds like I'm off to a good start now, I will be adding a few more things here and there and then the tang. Looks like the majority of voters say 'YES' to the tang.
Then hopefully it will look like I want it to look!

Jiffy pop: Yay! I'm glad you approve.

Fishboy: Thanks for the tip, I will look into it.

They do have a bad rep however individuals will always tip that in either direction. For example my Purple has been fine when with a CBBF of the same size and hasn't bothered the A. nigripes clownfish which it has been sharing a tank with since day one.
I think that the Purple tang was ~2"tip to end of tail (standard length measurement, not scientific length), when first acquired is part of why it's been so amiable towards tank mates.
So now i'm curious to know what size yours was when introduced?

I can't remember the exact size, but I would guess around 2-3 inches. I kept it for about a year and it grew quite a bit.

Here is a picture of it within minutes of it being released into the tank -- can see it went right for the clowns to announce that the tank was now his.
