Should I add one?

I've just added a False Percula Clown Fish to my 29 gallon reef. So far, so good. I am thinking of adding another. Any suggestions? I'd like them to be a mating pair, but how can I tell if the one I have is a male or female?
 
Actually clowns are born without gender. The most dominant clown becomes female, the next dominant clown becomes male, and the rest stay as ungendered "males in waiting." However, as it's rare to get a group of clowns to take on this hierarchy in captivity, most often in our tanks we get a female, a male, and a group of outcasts that will eventually be killed off by the dominant pair.

Killagoby - Approximately how big is the Ocellaris clown you just got? Do you know if it was Captive Bred or Wild Caught? Do you know how long the LFS had it, and if it was in a tank with other clowns at the store?
 
If you do get another, try to get one that is visibly smaller that the one that you have currently. It's not sure fire, but the smaller one will become male, more times than not.

He's about 1 inch big and captive bred. He was in a tank with only 2 to 3 other clowns. I do not know how long they had the fish at the store.
 
the clown you have is sexless you can get one that is smaller or one that is bigger
just make sure its not the same size. :)
 
My thoughts exactly :)

Personally I'd go for a smaller one, but it could be tough if it's only about an inch.
 
Well, I got a smaller one last night. It's about half the size of the one I had. So far, so good. They are swimming together happily. Thanks for the input all!
 
Well, the smaller one did not do so well. It got beat up by my Psudochromis. I am going to get one that is about an inch and keep my fingers crossed...

pseudochromis stll beating him up??? sometimes they are mean at first then calm down if not you need to take the psuedo out.
 
The Pseudo has been in this tank for over 2 years. It was the first fish in the tank. Then I added a Cherub Angel who lasted about a year and I found him stuck to a filter.

When I added the 1st Clown the Pseudo was fine towards him. He hid like he always does.

Today I added another Clown. This one bigger than the last, but a touch smaller than the one I added the other day who died. The larger of the 2 Clowns is a bit agressive towards it, but it does not look like it will pose a problem.

Nice shot. It looks like we have some of the same fish. The only difference is that my Foxface and Blue Tang are in my 75 gallon FOWLR.

There all great fish. Have you bought your other clown yet?
