should i be running my skimmer yet???

i have been running my wet test for the last 6 days and just added salt this morning and was wondering if i should be running my skimmer yet. there is nothing else in the tank besides water/salt. there is some film sitting in the top of the water in the return section of the sump.

i would wait till you have the rock/fish in the tank before runnung the skimmer

thanks i won't be doing fish for a while but will probably at least get my 100lbs of sand and a small quantity of rock tomorrow. question though, if i don't have anything in the tank besides salt water where is the brown gunk in my return section coming from???

That might be some organic debris from the salt mix or tank, or perhaps some small microbe bloom from nutrients in the salt. I would ignore it, personally.

thanks. i was hoping it came from the salt because if not i would say my ro/di is funky.

run the skimmer, if there is something to skim, it will.
