Should I let my clown be an old maid?

I have a clown that is approx 7 years old. It was the male of a pair until my female went carpet surfing about 3 years ago. Since then it has been by itself, (meaning no other clowns). Is is too late to try to get a mate for it? To do so, I would need to get a small young one to make sure it was a male , correct.

My clown is now undoubtedly female, correct?

by now I would say your clown is a female. if you want another one I would get a small juvi. and they should pair up just fine.

If you get a smaller one you will be fine. This happens in nature all the time, get (now) her a mate!
