My 125 sprung a leak and I had already ordered 3 large 7 inch achilles to arrive tomorrow will a 40 gallon be too tight for space for a week until I get my 125 resealed or I might just go buy 2 more tupperware containers since I have plenty of aged sponges, yes I will be trying them together if they fight I will separate them.

Wow, no, I wouldn't put 3 achilles tangs in a 40 gallon tank. I'd go get a rubbermaid stock tank from tractor supply company and try that out. You can get the 150 or 300 gallon one, and even return it when you're done if you need to. (possibly)

I know you say you will seperate, but I can't really see ANY chance that 3 7" achilles tangs will work out in a 125 gallon tank.

Agreed.

At minimum get a couple more rubbermaids.

How big of a tank are these going into? Other tankmates?

They might not even get enough 02 in that size tank. I lost a tang this way when my tank blew a seal. Tangs need well oxygenated water

I have 2 aquaclear 500 on it with dual sponges and 2 airstones for oxygen.. Probably go the tupperwear route till I get my 125 qt back up. Was going to cancel the order but it was a special order and large achilles especially 3 of them are not easy to come by

use a strong powerhead aimed at the water surface for VIGOROUS surface agitation. 3 large achillies are going to need a heck amount of oxygen and a 40g is not going to hold enough oxygen unless you agitation the surface like crazy.

I use a 100 gallon rubbermaid tub to QT my angels and I love it. For filtration I use a seasoned foam filter with air pump and a power head. I think the fact the sides are black and not clear calms them down because they do not see there reflection or anything else. Plus after a few weeks they get to where they love to be hand fed.

A great oxygenator is a skimmer. Put a skimmer on the tank, and it should be well oxygenated. I would think they can stay in a 40 for a week under that circumstance.

I thought you had a 300g...when did you upgrade?
About a month ago finally decided to get up and running since it has been sitting out in the garage .I used my freshwater 240 for the sump . I still have my 300 but that is my angel tank and do not want to dd anymore to it .I will try to get some pics later its 10 ft by 40 by 42 I think have 800 lbs of live rock with tons of macroalgae I wanted a dedicated tang tank and one for my angels. It bows about a inch in the middle so kinda worried a little but tank was set up in a art gallery for 5 plus years.

You probably don't need this to be raised but I would get the tank braced before filling it. 900 gallons of used saltwater on the floor would be a disaster, as would the loss of livestock.

I know a steel guy so he redid the steel stand so the tank actually is braced at the bottom and top and I wrapped both with wood the canopy weighs a good bit , tank looks well built it just bows . I have it set up in the garage so if it does go no harm done other that livestock which I have other tanks they can go into temporarily .I will try to get pics in the next couple days have to find my camera
