Should I remove injured fish???????

I have an injured Chromi- he fought with my clown like an idiot. the abrasions are on his side and now they have turned white and are looking worse. His temperament and motility look ok but I am ignorant of the fish healing process and whether or not my other fish are at risk of anything.

I appreciate any advice in advance.

If you can, remove the fish and treat with antibiotics to try to stop the infection. However, it does not look like it should be put back in with the clown or the fish will end up getting killed.

Remove him to quarantine (well aerated) and treat with Maracyn antibiotic. Chromis easily go into decline. The fact that these fish are fighting indicates that there's not enough space for both of them. As soon as he's healed, take him back to the lfs and find him a new home. Either that or trade in the clown.

I would agree that space may be a factor.... however the other 3 chromis know where to go and where not to go. This dude is just stubborn and hard headed :headwally:

Removing the fish from the tank: is that simply to treat him or is that to protect the fish from a funk that may develop?

Both. OTOH, if you have 3 other chromis, your clown may not be the guilty party. Depends on tank size.

Chromis tend to reduce the herd until they feel comfortable with the number in the tank. There's not too much problem in a 100 gallon tank. Around 50, they not infrequently tend to reduce the number to one, depending on who else is dominating the tank.
