Should I remove the filter

Hey all,

What a great place. Thank you for all the wonderful information.
I just ordered an AquaC Remora skimmer and didn't know for sure if I could remove the filter. Hopefully my tank info shows in my signature as I'm not sure how to do this. (Newbie:mixed: )

skimmer takes out extra protein in the water. Filter absorbs chemicals.

You could I don't run a filter on my tank. Its always good to run carbon on the system though.

Are you asking to remove emperor?
Canisters aren't preffered in salt.
Nitrate sinks.
PH's and skimmer would be fine.
Welcome to RC!

Thank you for the replies. Yes I would like to remove the Emperor so that I don't end up with the nitrate problem. Right now it's at 0 and I'd like to keep it that way. I don't have room for a sump, but want the best filtration for this tank for now.

I would leave it on, just dont leave a filter pad in there , you could shove some filter floss or a filter pad in there if detritus gets kicked up in your water change or something just take it out after, you could also put your heater in it and run some carbon like was stated before, also take out the biowheel

Speaking of a fuge, do you think I could set up a temporary fuge in the Emperor, with lighting of course, or would the water flow be to strong? I haven't researched this area a whole lot yet.

I personally would sell the emperor and use that $ to buy something that would benefit you better.
A HO fuge would be my first thought since you don't have sump.
LR if you need more, something like that.
