Should I remove this?

Hi,

My 120g tank has a "coast-to-coast" overflow that has grown a far amount of algae. I guess being close to the lights and having constant flow is encouraging this growth. Camera pic below.

Is this a bad thing or not? Should I pull it all out? Rip it out with extreme prejudice? Harvest a little at a time and be happy I got a free "in-tank" ATS and possibly happy home for pods? Its a little bit ugly, but not really bad.

In the past 6 months, by nitrates averaged 2ppm (salifert) and Po4 averaged about 0.05ppm (Hanna ULR).

Any thoughts/advice welcome.

I'd just be concerned once it grows too much and starts to really prevent water flow. What's likely more important is how does the tank look? That would really bug me to stare at.

Its not very noticable - surface height right at the back of the tank, mostly hidden by lights and tank trim. I had a hard time taking a picture of it.

Yeah, I'd leave it as long as it doesn't affect the drainage flow. You could probably manually trim it back but it won't harm anything

It might be a good thing as it will use up excess nutrients and possibly reduce algae growth elsewhere in the tank... a homegrown ATS like you said
