i just bought 3 electric blue hermit crabs.. ther are kinda big , but cool looking . they look like they are eating my beautiful coral line alge.. will they eat it all ? and if so they are about to play in the traffic outside my house.. thanks for your input..
I dont believe they will do anything but help spread the coraline algae. If the algae gets scraped off then some of it will have a chance to spread. If you have enough Cal and patience you will have more coraline than you want.
In a 30 gallon tank with three of them in there you will be buying snails for the rest of your life to feed them not to mention they kill other hermits and nock off corals that are unglued. My reccomendation would be to have them hit the street and i would get some of the blue legs that stay on the smaller side of things. the ones you have get massive and as stated above there are a few problems with them. There is one specific species that i am thinking of but i cant remember the name off the top of my head right now, they are in the same family as the red legs from mexico that are very common in the trade. The are normally imported when they are very small 1/4''-1/2'' shell size. Good luck!
