should i try -clams

first of all, i don't know much about clam besides a lot lighting. i only have experienced one that was in my old 24g with 150watt mh light, and it worked well when i put it at very bottom.

now i am thinking to put one in my 75gal tank with 2x150watt mh 2x96 pc.

the light is 10" above water, and the tank is 24" depth, so do u guys think it'll work if i put any clam at the very bottom on the sand ? something like Maxima requires less lighting than Crocea might work?

another question is that i always have problem to keep clam on LR, it'll either fall off and just keep moving around, i tried to use epoxy but didn't work...so any solution?

the only reason for the lighting staying that high above water is because i didn't want to make a new canopy, so i just cut open the top and place it on top of the canopy. This is the best i can do for now without spending more money, and the only good thing about it is i get enough room to work with my tank without moving that heavy @ss light..

so..anyone???

did you seriously try to epoxy a clam to a rock?

yah i really did haha but only at the bottom corner part of it..i tired everything i could...and you really don't want to know lol

Try easy corals first. Clams are exremely difficult for even the most experienced aquarists.

Heard that clams were difficult until I tried. Purchased a blue lip derasa clam, and it is thriving better than my LPS. I believe that my candycanes and mushrooms don't like the high flow (35x) but man, the clam is awesome! Read up and see if it will be compatible in your tank. I am having some compatibility issues right now with other coral.

They need good flow and lots of light. I have a 150 watt MH 5 inches above water and the clam in the middle of the 26" high tank. Start with heartier species and something that is larger than 2", since they are supposedly heartier when larger. Good luck

clam wasn't hard for me at all when i had it in my nano with 150watt MH..

and i have all kinds of LFS and worked good, even my flower pot did well for 2 months + and i just traded it out yesterday.

some of my Zoas and Rics are doing well at bottom of my tank, but right now i'm moving everything higher and nothing really on the sand right now.

as long as your water quality and lighting is in spec and the system is at least 6mo's old, I'd say try it...start with derasa and go from there.

when purchasing, inspect for pinching mantel, gaping, pyramid snails and a quick reaction to shadows.

What if we just used screws to anchor the clam to the rock? Seriously, that is pretty funny that you tried epoxy. Now I'm not sure at all but some clams like rocks while others like sand. Some one please correct me, but I do know that if they move, it's probably for a good reason. He doesn't like being in that spot!
