Should I upgrade my skimmer?

I have a sea clone skimmer made by instant ocean, it works ok but im wondering if i should upgrade to a more powerful one. It is in the sump of my 65 gallon, it came with a maxi jet wich is about 290 gph.

are you having nutrient problems? A skimmer is a luxury and is not necessary unless your are having issues with exporting nutrients. The most common answer to your question is that the sea clone is a junk skimmer and you would be better served by buying a better skimmer.

BTW, AquaC, Bermuda Aquatics, and Deltec make good hang-on skimmers.

AquaEuro Classic 135 at reefnut.com is $150 shipped.

I have't hooked mine up yet but some people are diggin the big 400 model.

I have six fish in my tank two of them are rather large one engineer and one pink spotted, there for they need to eat more. I only feed every other day though.

I had this skimmer in my 65g too. Of course I had mutrients problems. I impoved to Aquamedic T1000. It is a great skimmer. I really recommend it you.

For your fish load, you have to improve it.

I think that there is a confusing.

There are recirculating skimmers and another that aren't. Both use a ventury to inject air to the system.

Of course the recirculating skimmers are best that the other aren't. And the T1000 is recirculating.

If i got one of these recirculating skimmers all i would have to do is divert some of the main flow to the skimmer right.

You could go by two options:

1.- From the overflow you can take a line directcly to the skimmer, but you have to regulate the flow into the skimmer. I used a "T", one side to the skimmer an another to hte sump. When I regulated the flow into the skimmer, the exces went to the sump without problems

2.- You can run this skimmer or another recirculating with a feed pump. I don't remember what is the exact flow, but you could ask to aquamedic for its manual.

Here are some pictures. You cannot see the feed configuration, but is the option 1.
