I have a 6000 with the old drive unit with brakes. It is about 3 years old (great product!!!!).

Is there a benefit in upgrading to the new drive unit. I dont have the new stype impeller I dont think either. It looks like it is included as well. My current drive unit works, but the breaks have some wear.

Thanks,
Alan

Sometimes the new drive unit is noisier on older pumps, it tends to quieter in new pumps, the rigidity carries the noise from any imperfections from wear or age, the old drive unit had some play that dampened noise problems. It is simpler and stronger but there is no real reason for the change beyond making it easier to mass produce and try to speed up production.

Nope, basically the brakes are required for the 6060 and 6080 and in the past our issue was space so they shared the same drive unit but an oring was added to keep the brakes from being used, it compresses them. The oring is under the shaft. Now our issue is making enough so we changed to seperate drive units since people have to assemblt the old one and it takes time.

I might be missing that oring I will have to check because the two break pieces are worn. I always thought they did something even though I had a controller.

No, the electronics monitor and correct start up. I can send you an oring if it is missing, it is about the size of a pencil eraser in diameter and it is pressed down between the shaft and magnet.
