Should the ich fall off with a Fresh Water Dip?

It's crazy how much misinformation is out there. I read the ich life cycle is 28 days so they were saying 6 weeks to be sure but I get different numbers from every article. I guess better safe than sorry. At least with a reef tank I can still appreciate corals and my shrimp.

Eight weeks fallow is not long enough. Ten is the absolute minimum and twelve is preferred.

I'm not using cupramine. My lfs poured me something out of a gallon jug from their own stock and he said they don't make it anymore and gave me the API copper test kit. It did turn the color it was suppose to but I can't tell if I'm at 0.2 or 0.4

What are you using then? If it's chelated copper (i.e. Coppersafe), then the range you need to be shooting for is 1.5 - 2.0 mg/L.

yes, I'm using coppersafe. I looked up the instructions and the mfg name was familiar and it was 5ml per 4 gallons.

The possum wrasse died unfortunately. What level is too high because I seriously can't tell between 0.2 and 0.4. I guess what I can do is do a water change and drop it down to lighter than 0.2 and then slowly add more copper just until i get up to the darker color.

If you are using Coppersafe, then you need to get the level close to 2.0. But don't exceed 2.0. Your API copper test kit should look like the one below:
