Show fish(s) for a 48"x12"x12" 33g

way to close the deal velvetelvis. are you a lawyer? so i guess im more drawn to a "nano reef" becuase of the activity like you dottyback. im mad but happy at the same time lol :/ maybe in the future when i am on my own i might do a species tank or predetor tank.

so you are suggesting I, for one week, sit, push the thought to the back of my mind, and let the good idea come to me? what makes it harder is i was just asked by the LFS if i wanted a dwarf fuzzy lionfish they just got in. is that a sign i should do #3 but have the 33 a predetor tank? WAIT i have 1 more idea (im sorry im contradicting your suggestion small alien), i have a 55 undrilled that is sitting around doing nothing. If i got the predetor tank route, should i use that or the 33? i would have to figure out how to use a HOB overflow and stuff....

Indeed, the signs are all around us.

I was just remembering when I was planning my 75, I really got into a thought spiral about what size tank to get. I spent several months weighing the options. It's fun in a way. And can be quite productive. But it can drive you mad!

Sometimes it's good to just not think about it. Like when you loose your keys. Sometimes, as soon as you stop trying to remember where you left them, you remember!

Good luck and enjoy the ride! :fun4:

comment to velvetelvis:

However, her territorial nature means that I probably won't be able to add any new fish now that she's established herself in the tank.

My experience with an orchid dottyback was that this fish is one of the more peaceful dottybacks, and makes a good community tank fish is kept away from other dottybacks.

starki damsel , looks like a dwarf angel, but reef safe. only $30 . nobody keeps them ,super underated fish. they should max out at 3"

here is a rough list of what i have concocted:

Chalk Bass (Serranus tortugarum)
Starry Blenny (Salarias ramosus)
Tail Spot Blenny (Ecsenius stigmatura)
Kaudern's Cardinal (Pterapogon kauderni)
Longspine Cardinalfish (Zoramia leptacanthus)
Starcki Damsel (Chrysiptera starcki)
Firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica)
Firefish, Purple (Nemateleotris decora)
Orchid Dottyback (Pseudochromis fridmani)
Green Mandarin (Synchiropus splendidus)
Cave Transparent Goby (Coryphopterus glaucofrenum)
Neon Goby (Elacatinus oceanops)
Court Jester Goby (Amblygobius rainfordi)
Clown Goby, Yellow (Gobiodon okinawae)
Flame Hawkfish (Neocirrhitus armatus)
Bluestripe Pipefish (Doryrhamphus excisus)
Black Seahorse (Hippocampus erectus)
Scarlet Pin Stripe Wrasse (Pseudocheilinus evanidus)
Yellow Stripe Clingfish (Diademichthys lineatus)
Red Spotted Goby (Trimma rubromaculatus)

please give me your imput, suggestions, or just say im crazy. i also plan on having multiple fish on some of these choices.

Please tell me you that is just a list of options and not what you want to put in your 33g tank. Yes I realize that it is tied into your 75 but that is still not that much volumn for so many fish.

is is just a list of what i found on LA that interested me NOT the 100% stalking list! i know this is too much and some of the fish will compete with food so i need imput and suggestions on what to keep and what to kick.

I would eliminate the Mandarin and the Seahorse since they both require advance care. Also I would recommend you pick between 3 and 5 small fish that you like best. If it were me I would do the Orchid Dottyback and the Flame Hawk with a small goby.

thats what i thought about the seahorse. i would prefer to keep the mandarin tho. i have 2 options im looking at. 1) put it in the 33 reef 2) put it in the 75 fowlr. im thinking #2 would work the best cuase i still have room in the 75. so in a sense, you are right and wrong. ill eleminate it from the 33 stocking list but not from the 75 lol. so you suggest in the 33 to put 3-5 small fish? hmmmm ill ponder that opinion. any other suggestions anyone?

I also like Apogon parvulus. I have a group of five from DD. They stay small (maybe 1.5 inches), and are active. I really like the way they look, although they do bear some resemblance to a tetra

I've heard that flame hawks make really good pets, but they will eat inverts like cleaner shrimp--and smaller fish too, I'm pretty sure.

ALH- i wasnt able to check last night and i dont see them now, did you get a link?

velvetelvis- yah i heard the same thing. ill probably tank the chance and introduce him last (after the inverts) so maybe thatll help.
