Following are a few shots of my Pipefish tank, and my plans for upgrading.

I have two wild caught (Long Island, NY) Northern Pipes, Syngnathus fuscus, in a 14gal Oceanic Biocube. Before people jump down my throat, yes, I know it's a bit small, and the light and pump keep it too warm; but the fish have been in it for 7 months now and are thriving. I'm in the process of setting up a 47 tall (20x18x30H) to better house them, and, hopefully, some newly caught ones this Summer -- also planning to use a chiller in the new tank, and planting some live local Eel Grass, making for a very natural local biotype -- definitely will be omitting the tropical soft corals pictured below.

As an aside, I've purchased both Banded and Blue Striped Pipes, and none have ever eaten well, and simply disappeared one at a time! These local guys eagerly eat Mysis right from my fingers.

Small Alien - have you ever had problems with your LPS and anemone stinging the pipefish or do they just stay away? I've read they are sensitive.

Thanks!

Well, they do seem to understand and stay away. I have seen one of my dragonface bump into a torch tentacle and jerk away very suddenly. But it seemed unharmed. I'm sure a couple wrong moves and one could end up dead from being stung. But it seems a relatively low risk and within the parameters of my "live and let live" philosophy for my reef. I have quite a bit of open sand bed. If I had a tank jam packed with nems, I could see that being a big problem. The pipes are unfazed by shrooms, zoas, leathers, etc. They'll sit right on them.
