So.. an odd request but lately i'm really leaning towards ditching my whole entire CA reactor set-up and going for a nice 2 part doser (profilux) and working with my CA and Alk that way...

the idea seems really simple, and seems as if it should work fine..

but one thing that worries me is that most of the really nice SPS tanks i have seen all seem to utilize CA reactors instead. Anyone want to enlighten me =) ?

wow, nice tanks.. both of you guys =).

Dose manually, or automated with a pump?

Keep em coming though if anyone else has one.

manually here! I don't find it to be a hassle at all. It actually is good because at the same time you can find problems that would be much worse off without seeing them in the morning.

manually. I guess at least I know what's going in each day. Can't really overdose "by mistake". But, when I go out of town, etc, I have to have someone come every day, which is a pain.

I used to dose 2 part but got sick and tired of manually doing once in the morning then again at night every single day. So now I just mix up kalk let it settle an extract the sautrate top half of the kalkwater and drip it at a rate of 1-1 1/2 gallon per 24hr to match my evap that I set. I am much happier now that I got away from the manual doing of the 2 part. It's been about a year since I stopped. Here are some pics of the tank as of now.

A full top down -- the lights were off, and I used the flash, so the colors are a bit washed out,

Not pure 2 part, as a also top off with kalk. Have a CA reactor but took it off line, and will probably automate with dosing pumps in the future. Having the kalk allows me to go out of town without the levels dropping drastically enough to cause harm.

Nope, its my sunrise/sunset lighting: 1 actinic, 2 blue plus, 1 fiji purple (why the back half looks whitish pink and the front half blue). This is about my favorite bulb combo because the actinic pops green and orange, blue plus pops blue, and the fiji purple pops pinks and reds, so you get all colors popping at once :)

wow, thanks for the encouragement everyone. All of the tanks look great...

Sonny- i had no idea your tank was a two part tank.. if i knew that i wouldn't have even started the thread!!

Here is mine before I lost half of my SPS during my tank move. I have used nothing but Randy's 2 part on 2 dosing pumps.

Does anybody here find the need to keep there tank in ionic balance as in the balling method or that simple WC's take care of it? I ask mainly because im curious but also because some of the best european tanks use this and it looks to be part of there overall sucess (not saying any of the tanks posted arent amazing).
