Show me your 5.5...

I am getting ready to set-up a 5.5 and I would like to see some of your set-ups along with the details of your equipment.

Currently I have the following:

5.5 AGA
Aquaclear 70 (will be made into a fuge)
Mini replacement impeller for aquaclear 70 to slow down the flow
Black Sand
Instant Ocean Salt
Millennium 1000 Pads for Aquaclear Mod
5 lbs of live rock to start cycle until I make it to the fish store
50w heater

I haven't decided on lighting yet but I am leaning toward dual 27w pc's. I only plan to have softies and an LPS so I might drop to two 13w PC's for heat reasons.

I am planning on making a nice trim piece for a base and a small canopy with fans for the hood.

My brother is just about to set one up. He is going to have an old filter for fuge, about 5lbs LR, and two 9w pc's. I think we are going to start tonight.

This seems like a perfect fit for my thread. Check it out; learn from my mistakes. I pretty much have the exact same setup as you are looking for. I spent a lot of time trying to guide people to build a successful 5.5 AGA nano.

Here's my 5.5g. I've removed the Caulerpa and added a frag of pink star polyps (right in the centre, under the torch) since taking this pic, but it gives you the general idea

Sweet tank man, thanks for the pic. What equipment do you run on it?

benner...actually, as of right now I am ok. I will definitely be needing some help once I start putting it together. Last night I spray painted the back glass and took pictures of everything. Once I get a little further, I will post some pics.

I also picked up a Kreg Rocket Pocket Hole System, a stand for my chop saw and a shop vac last night. Lets just say I am getting the tools ready to start building a canopy and a base for the 5.5.

Here's my 5.5 Gallon

It's a basic 5.5 AGA, back painted black.
An AC500 w/ Cut impeller - modded into a fuge with Cheato
2 AC20 (mini) - one with carbon and purigen, the other with floss
Fluval 304 Canister filled with Live Rock and Rubble

It's got almost 80x turnover in the tank, but it doesn't kick up sand at all.

Lighting is 2*28watt PC's.. I'm going to get a 10k 70w MH HQI for it soon though.

Especially 5.5g AGAs that have been drilled or modified with overflows.
