By using narrow angle lens, 1 watt LED already have good penetration into the water. It also can save on electricity cost.

Previously I used 2 x 400 watt MH and 3 x T5 HO 54 watt. I was able to save on electricity cost as much as USD 55.00 per month after replacing them with LED.

I haven't decided on an outer enclosure yet, probably will be wood as that is easy for me to work with, aluminum possibly if I can find someone with a break to bend it, cutting holes for the fan would be a pain though. Then again it's only over my frag tank in the basement.... (no comments on the recently revived ugliness, I'm calling a frag tank, please )

Looks more like an amplifier than a light fixture LOL! anyway here it is. Aquastyle 24LED kit. 60 degree optics, sitting about 18" above the tank, crazy bright! I should start a build thread just for fun but who has the time?

I am going to use 3/16 black acrylic to trim my enclosure. Just going to cut strips about 3" tall and attach them to the side of the channel somehow. This is what it should look like when done.

What degree lenses and how high off the surface?

Well, now that I actually have something to contribute to this thread. I ended up building 2 of the fixtures I planned for my 210 (RIP), but they work great over a 4' tank too.

Very clean rrasco...when you wrapped the positve and negative leads from each led to the underside of the c channel, how did you keep them in place?

Thanks. Some of the wiring was solid core, so it stays pretty well on its own, but I did hot glue them as well.

Thanks. I used two aluminum fasteners on each side, through the acrylic and through the tube frame.

What I was referring to, was your wiring between the fixture and the enclosure. Are you using a connector of some kind for quick disconnect?---Rick
