awesome photo - such nice focus - but I don't know how you get focused only 10 inches away with a telephoto lens

This was one of my most interesting shots on 2/28. The DOF was very tight, but it seems a bit grainy to me.

whats your ISO set at - shoot for below 400 perhaps

its difficult to keep low, not use flash and have enough shutterspeed but you said your fstop was high yes? - try lowering that. 640 on your camera may make your grain - balancing act - nonetheless - nice picture for sure - as were all your recent one

It was at 640, so a lower ISO would have been better.
 
I normally shoot tank pics with iso 800 and comes out good.
imho, fish pics need to have relatively high shutter speeds so to accomplish that, I shoot with higher iso and big aperture.
