as the title says: I live in the show me state, and I would like to see how you guys have mounted your tanks in wall.

I have a friend who is not into reefing, however, he is quite skilled carpenter.

He is going to help me build my 220 (60x30x28) in wall, and I would like to see how you guys built yours.

I would like an area under the tank to store stuff (sump will go into fishroom behind tank), I would also like access above the tank, from the front and Im not sure how to go about this build.

Any help especially pictures would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,
Quasi

180 in wall. Before and after. I like having access from both the front and back makes working on the tank easier. That's the reason for the doors over the top.

do a google image search for "in wall aquariums". you'll get a ton of pics to look at.

if you don't have or cant create front access, seriously think about an in-wall, i have a 75 in wall without front access and doing the most basic thing is such a pain in the ***. Cleaning the glass, arranging rockwork, attaching a detached mag float, placing coral where you want it, catching anything, having to turn the pumps off to see in, the list goes on.....HOWEVER, it does look pretty sweet and i don't get light spill into the room LOL

lessons of in wall builds:

1) think ahead about access for equipment replacement, maintenance, electrical, future equipment, etc. any potential disaster

2) maximize viewing panels

3) if you can go basement sump, or behind wall sump/equipment room that's IMO way better than in the cabinet

4) overbuild and leave more room than you think you'll need

5) have the glass and equipment onsite before you demo/build so you know real dimensions

Here is mine. It's setup as a walk around peninsula. Dimensions are 96" x 48" x 24" tall for a total of 480G in the display. It's drywalled in from top to bottom with bull nosed edges.
